| Bio: | Am no longer posting or reading LJ. Nobody's to blame. I'm not ill nor has any bad thing happened to me. I just got tired. I think I learned more about myself in fandom than I learned about anyone else. Which is a good thing. A lot of what I learned revealed a me I wasn't happy with. I'm working on it, but decades of habit are hard to change. Best to make the effort with my family and people in RL. Some things you can change, some ya can't. Simple as that. I finally realized that I would never fit in with fandom - not in personality nor psychology. Everything in LJ fandom moves too fast, changes too frequently and cares about too many things that I couldn't. The required level of participation was too high, which was problematic as interest shifted into areas I didn't care about. Emphasis: these are as much self-criticism as anything else. I find myself calmer and more relaxed since I stopped reading/posting. I have a lot more time to read actual books and garden. The thing I miss the most is the motivation to write that LJ gave me. I find myself still composing posts and of course, fanfic stories in my head. As for coming back someday? I doubt it. I'm keeping the paid subn for now in case I find I can read here and not get drawn in. Many people have been good to me over the years and I miss them. I wish I had been able to contribute in some more meaningful way since that was the whole idea. I wish I could have been a better friend. I do not flatter myself that I matter enough to make a big deal out of dropping out so that's why no posted announcement to my journal. I doubt anyone will even find this. And that's just fine. I just wanted to make a note somewhere as to why the posting stopped. L | |||||||
